The Peer Lending industry is growing at a phenomenal rate, some 1000% since 2009, why?

Many peer lending sites will point to the returns available and compare them to bank returns. This is not necessarily a fair comparison, bank deposits are insured and do not have a risk profile attached as peer lending or crowd funding does. However the returns available (certainly in peer lending), even risk adjusted and with fees included, are proving attractive to everyday investors and even asset managers who are increasingly investing in loans.

We believe however, that one of the reasons that platforms such as Ablrate are becoming popular is the ease by which investors may allocate their capital, manage their risk and be ‘hands-on’ with their investments.

Peer lending allows a hands on, fee-free (certainly in the case of Ablrate) approach to getting a return on the cash that we have in traditional investments earning low levels of return and the ability (when peer lending is utilised through an ISA) to do this is a tax efficient way.
